Legal Setting

The former director appeared in positive mood as he walked into the court on mid-week, conversing with his lawyers and being lighthearted. He was supported by his partner, his wife and child Maureen, a US lawyer who the former government terminated.

At the period, he was directing an examination into international campaign influence and whether there were any links between Russia and the election effort.
