Exploring an Unique Steam Demo: Guiding a Poop with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and enthusiasts have encountered numerous engaging indie games. But, one stands out for its offbeat concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game includes a protagonist that is truly a turd attempting to navigate to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."

How you interact is simple: press a one button to leap. Across 150 levels, you'll face tough enemies and access a market to buy skins for your poop character.

Execute your actions precisely, since one error requires beginning again. Leap off bubbles to propel your character higher, traverse disappearing platforms, and activate buttons to unlock hidden paths. Collect currency and use them on tougher game content in which gameplay ramps up.

Visually, the demo features vibrant stages and catchy music score. Its minimalist art featuring moving geometric shapes evokes memories of fans of classic titles like Earthbound.

Even though hard to name similar titles where you play as a piece of feces, gaming often featured scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can make grenades from protagonist droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as soil enrichment. Naturally, fecal references appears a lot in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its silly concept, Unko Technica has already garnered significant accolades, including being named best at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. The demo is available at present on Steam, with the complete version set to launch on PC this November.
